Southeast Asia 2019 Feb
The descriptive word I’ve used repeatedly for this trip to Southeast Asia is “fascinating.” My primary interest in visiting this region was Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Angkor Wat is on everyone’s list of “must see” places in the world and it did not disappoint. But there was so much more to see and experience in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Of course, most trips are limited by time so we only scratched the surface of all that there is to see in these interesting and historic countries. Primary areas visited were Hanoi and Halong Bay in northern Vietnam, Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An in central Vietnam, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) in southern Vietnam, Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) in Cambodia, and Bangkok in Thailand. It’s definitely a different culture and lifestyle than what we have back home.
My purpose of the photographs in this gallery is primarily to give the viewer a feel for the totally different things they would see here that are totally different from most things “at home.” Sadly, the region should be experienced via all senses but only the visual sensation can be experienced in the following images. Sadly, these images cannot convey the sounds, smells, and tastes of this exotic area and culture. Hopefully you’ll leave this gallery of photos with a different perspective of life in other cultures.
